Penumbra

What? Saying “The twilight zone” is ridiculously trite at this point. Gmail’s new preview pane is miserably unusable on my netbook’s 1024×600 10″ screen:

Gmail fail

HAY GUYZ, could we possibly squeeze more crap onto the screen?

I do feel my screen-size places me into the [[penumbra]] of Google services: I am too small to enjoy the full desktop experience and too large to make effective use of Google’s simplified mobile sites. It’s an irk. I have had a similar experience with Google+ when I try to reshare posts: The “permissions” pop-over always winds up somewhere off the bottom of my screen.

Come on already, Google! Make use of my 1024 horizontal pixels!
