On my first day in Gozo I ran from Victoria to Ta’ Ċenċ Cliffs and then back to town by way of Xlendi. This wasn’t my greatest run as far as they go because I didn’t realise the trail Strava said exists was a literal clifftop goat trail; I wound up having to cut across fields and over stone walls. Eh, fuck it, life lesson. The climb from Xlendi to Victoria was a complete fucker, a steep-grade three kilometre hill.
While not the greatest run, it got me out of the bed, out of the apartment and out around Gozo. I’m an anxious traveller. Not nervous, not a worrier, more…anxious about strange places outside my comfort zone. I tell you, that I almost fell off a fucking cliff and had to trespass through farms settled my anxiety super quick.
One of my big regrets about Gozo is that I feel I didn’t have enough time to explore and unwind and run. I fucked up on my choice of routes early on and didn’t have the energy to run later. Next time!
